[Review] Neo Cosmo Lens and GlassesOnline Store Review

Are you the kind that love contact lenses but are too lazy to wear it on a daily basis? Well, congratz! you are just like me! haha

I only wear contacts occasionally or on days when i have the time and feel like dolling up. Which is why, I've been looking for quarter monthly (3-months) lenses that are comfortable yet affordable. Monthly (1-month) lenses are a NO-NO for me, they are just too costly because I usually throw them out after only 5-6 wears.

If you're Malaysian, you'd know how expensive lenses can cost in optical stores, and quarter monthly (3-months) lenses are usually those super huge alien dolly eye circle lenses such as Blinkon or Geolica by GEO Medical that can cost quite a lot. Plus, they always have this buy 2 free 1 promo that forces you to buy 3 boxes instead, like, who the heck has both eyes of the same power right??  Which is why I have not tried them both. Blinkon to me, do not look comfortable at all, GEO might be, because I've tried GEO circle lenses (not the Geolica range) and it was okay. Not as comfortable as I would like it to be, as the lens can be quite tough and very drying after 5-6 hrs wear.

And if you read my blog, I've talked about the RainbowColor Storm Grey lens by Tokyoninki which was one of my favorite lenses (if you have not, read here). I still think the design and pattern is pretty cool. Sadly, i think they have stopped production, and I can't get it in the powers I want anymore. They DO have a new range of lenses, but the designs are not to my liking. So, I have to move on.

That was almost a year ago.

So now, I want to share with you guys, what I've been wearing these days - NEO COSMO quarterly lenses! ( Check out the designs at NeoCosmo Malaysia's official website link here)

I've been wearing these NeoCosmo lenses for 9+ months now, and I can't describe to you how much I FREAKKIN LOVE it! I'm actually on my third pair now - the Neo Cosmo Cerulean Blue lenses. My last 2 pairs were Neo Cosmo's Winter Grey which I TOTALLY LOVED!! more than the current Cerulean Blue I have now actually. To know why, scroll to the bottom to read the review of both lenses!

I bought mine from Glassesonline (Link here) and it cost me RM85 for 2 pairs after discount. Normal price would be RM110 for 2 pairs, and if you register with them, you'd get RM10 off plus it provides free shipping nationwide.

For me, that's RM85 for half a year's wear! super cheap!

My receipt and contact lenses that came in a box

My package came around a week after my order online in a package as such:

Glassesonline delivery package

Inside, there's a HUGEEE box, a lil too much for 2 lil box of contacts lens don't you think?.. haha

Glassesonline box

Open them up, you'd get:

Here are pics of me wearing Neo Cosmo's Winter Grey and Cerulean Blue with no filter
(Sorry the pics are a bit blurry cause my Xiaomi Mi3's front camera sucks, I can't really take clear quality selfies):

Me wearing Neo Cosmo's Cerulean Blue

Me wearing Neo Cosmo's Cerulean Blue (Indoor natural light), looks almost black here lol

As you can see, both lenses are pretty similar from afar and under natural sunlight, the only difference are:
  • Winter Grey has a warmer (greenish) tone compared to the Cerulean Blue.
  • Winter Grey is also very much lighter compared to the Cerulean Blue (Although you can't really see it in these photos).
  • Winter Grey looks more natural up close compared to Cerulean Blue because of its design and colour. The Cerulean Blue carries a deep baby blue/ turquoise-ish colour which doesn't really look good on Asians.

Verdict for NeoCosmo Winter Grey:

Colour: ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Natural yet noticeable warm grey.
Enlargement: ❤❤❤♡♡ 3/5 - Very very slight enlargement, but it's there. LOVE IT!
Design:  ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Very very natural, reminds me of freshlook colorblends.
Comfort:  ❤❤❤❤❤❤ 6/5 - 10+ hours with no discomfort at all, feels like freshlook colorblend monthly lenses! so soft! Absolutely Amazeeed!
Overall:  ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Super NATURAL grey lens if you like just a hint of colour to your eyes.
Repurchase: Buy BUY BUY! MOST DEFINITELY!

Verdict for NeoCosmo Cerulean Blue:

Colour: ❤❤♡♡♡ 5/5 - Not as natural upclose, looks a little like freshlook colourblends in turquoise, from far you won't notice the blue at all.
Enlargement: ❤❤❤♡♡ 3/5 - Very very slight enlargement, but it's there. LOVE IT!
Design:  ❤❤♡♡♡ 2/5 - Not as natural, patterns are like little starburst lines.
Comfort:  ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - 10+ hours with no discomfort at all, feels like freshlook colorblend monthly lenses! so soft! Absolutely Amazeeed!
Overall:  ❤❤♡♡♡ 2/5 - Just because I like the Winter Greys much better.
Repurchase: Nah, I'll get the Winter Greys. :)

[Review] RainbowColor Cosmetic Lens Storm Grey

I've been searching for an eye enlarging lens that doesn't make me look creepy or alien-like for the longest time! and waddaya know? I've found my perfect match - RainbowColor Cosmetic Lens in Storm Grey!

Ever since trying out Freshlook Colourblend's grey lens (my first colour lens), I knew that grey was the colour for me. However, Freshlook Colourblends does not provide an enlarging effect even with a 14.5mm diameter. Thus, I joined the circle lens hype and tested popular brands such as GEO, Dueba etc... in various shades of brown, grey and black as I wanted something natural, and those poster girls are always so damn preetaayyy!

Anyway, I should have known better, posters are deceiving... I ended up with 15 - 16mm circle lenses that made me look like a freak show. It was then I've decided decided that light grey lenses suits my pale Asian skin best (even without makeup!) while solid black rims and super large diameters are a big NO-NO for me.

So began my hunt for the perfect lens that can fulfill my requirements:-

  • Light Grey
  • 3-Tones
  • No solid Black Rims
  • Around 14.2 - 14.5 mm in diameter
  • Slight enlarging effect

And I've found it! - RainbowColor Cosmetic Lens in Storm Grey designed by our very own gorgeous Malaysian blogger Cheezie!

RainbowColour Storm Grey Lens

I got mine at TokyoNinKi, an online store selling Japanese beauty products.

Currently priced at RM58 (N.P.), RM38 (as of 29/10/2013), RM 29 (as of 3/1/2014) per box of 2 lenses, super worth it!!!

TokyoNinki Website

My package arrived on the within 2 working days after payment, as expected with any delivery via PosLaju. Got myself 2 boxes because of my different eye power (very glad I did, because I love them!). The boxes came cocooned in bubble wrap together with 3 sachets of Hydrogen+Collagen drink samples, plus 2 really huge brochures, a heart shaped and a poop shaped brochure... 'I heart poop' HAHAHA!

AND here comes the happy part! unwrapping and trying on mah lenses!

Picture of me with RainbowColor Storm Grey Lens under the morning sun:

VERDICT:

Colour: ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Vivid, noticeable but subtle, won't make you a lizard.

Enlargement: ❤❤❤❤♡ 4/5 - Slightly enlarging, will not give you a dolly, alien eye look if you're aiming for that haha!
Design:  ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Pattern mimics actual iris, making it even more natural looking.
Comfort:  ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - 10+ hours with no discomfort at all, but my eyes got a little red after the 10th hour.

Overall:  ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Super NATURAL grey lens if you like just a hint of colour to your eyes.

Personal Comments: I'm a fan of everything natural looking, be it make-up or lenses. This tri-colour lens blends nicely into my dark brown/black eyes, no halo, no thick black rims. Just perfect! Can't tell you how much I LURVEEE this!
Repurchase: ❤❤❤❤❤ 5/5 - Would definitely buy them again! or maybe stock up before it discontinues!
