Monolid Makeup Tutorial (Pink)

So I posted some photos on Insta, and one of my friends asked me if I could do an eye makeup tutorial for this.

But since it would take me quite some time to make a video tutorial, I thought I would just draw the steps to achieve this monolid look.

But first, to know and understand what kind of eye I have, and what may or may not work for you, please CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.

So, the general rule for monolid is to make your eyes look rounder, and thus bigger.

STEP 1.
Start off with a base colour. Pick a light colour.
I'll usually go for a shimmery pink or gold, but for this look, I went for a light pink.

STEP 2.
Get a second colour, which will be your main colour.
I'll recommend using a matte colour to deepen protruding eyes, because matte and dark colours deepens the eyes.
For this look, I picked a matte maroon red.

STEP 3.
Get your 3rd eye shadow colour which will be your shading colour, also matte for a nice gradient.
For this look, I used a matte brown colour.

STEP 4.
Lastly, get a pencil/ gel liner, preferably shades darker than your 3rd eye shadow colour to extend the gradient, and deepen your eyes even more. I went for a matte dark brown liner all round the upper and lower line, and blend it outwards with your 3rd eyeshadow colour.

Another step I took, optional really, was to add some charcoal black liner at the outer corner of my upper and lower lids, and blend it with the brown liner.

To finish up, add mascara/ false lashes, and some highlights to the areas shaded in green in the pic above. Plus, mayb some shimmers to the inner corner of your eyes.
And you're good to go!

MY MONOLID TIPS FOR ROUNDER EYES:
  1. Remember that unlike double lids, when you open your eyes, the eye shadows stays exactly where you applied them, it doesn't move nor disappear like double lids. So open your eyes to check on your makeup. What you see (with your eyes open) is what you get.
  2. Thicken dark shadows and eyeliners at the inner section eyeline to create an illusion of rounder eyes.
  3. Always shade with dark or matte colours, do NOT do the monotone eyeshadow thing unless it is just one bright streak above your liner.
  4. Always blend from the bottom up, i.e. from your upper eyeline to your upper lid, and less from outer crease to the center like what double lid people would do. I mean, you can, but make it minimal.

So that's how I do my eye shadows!
Hope it helps!
